In essence, this is the same containerization as used in Solaris Zones, OpenVZ, LXC, or cgroups, whichever you are most familiar with. There is a single kernel running 2 separate process trees, one for Android, and one for Ubuntu… both are running “native” on the hardware… there is no virtual machine, or emulation involved.
